Mythic Prelude:
Into the
Third Night
The main news at the top of this month is that the worldwide OM sounded
on Nov. 8 continues to vibrate in our stream of
possibilities. Jonathan Goldman, who with
World Puja and their team organized the live and webcast Project OM at the Harmonic
Concordance, writes:
"The Global Consciousness Project (GCP), directed by Roger Nelson of
Princeton, studies the effects of events that create fields of measurable global
consciousness. Continuous streams of data are sent over the internet to be
archived and correlated with events that may evoke a world-wide consciousness.
"Analysis of the data around time of the Lunar eclipse on November 8, 2003 show a major harmonically related increase in the energetic measurements. The results are quite impressive--you can definitely see the peak at the time of our most coherent sonic resonance! We can make a difference!"
More on this as experiments continue, especially in connection with the Venus
Passage of June 8, 2004. Much will be written about this and the climactic "Venus Occultation" of 2012.
This
year, as last year, December begins a new Tun: that
is, a 360-day cycle that, along with the
260-day tzolkin, is one of the two best-known
short count calendars crafted and preserved by
the master timekeepers of the Maya.
As we saw in December
2002, the 13-Tun Galactic Creation Cycle drawn by Carl Johan Calleman has proven to be a prophetic tool accurate and thought-provoking enough so far to deserve another year-end look, and a better presentation than in last December's UFC of the table Calleman draws in his book The Mayan Calendar.
Please note
that in the Galactic
Creation Cycle of Thirteen Heavens
that follows, only the two columns at the left,
the sequence of 13 tuns, divided into seven
Day tuns and six Nights, and the two Venus
Passages in the right column, are from Calleman's
writing. The other related planetary events in the
right column,
and the two additional tuns at the bottom,
are appended material.
The key premise
of the Galactic Creation Cycle is that the years
from 1999 to 2011 contain 13 tun cycles,
alternating between "Days" -- tuns
in which human evolution toward the light
is eased and accelerated -- and "Nights",
the tuns that "carry a reaction against
the evolution of Galactic Consciousness." As
we are about to enter the Third Night of the Cycle,
marked in the table in black and rose, it will be
useful here to look at the whole design, then the
Night we enter this month.

It is
essential to note here that the process outlined
in this table is not a simply dualistic, overt and
mechanical design in which we go onward and upward
during the Days, backward and down at Night.
Each tun
may contain multiple currents that go every which
way at the same time. Major discomfort can come
in the Day, breakthroughs of insight at Night. And
we get, last month in the Day and soon at Night, superb opportunities such as the Venus Passage,
coming in June 2004, the next powerful energy burst that
human beings can use for aligning in planetary awakening
and liberation.
"The beginning of the third night of the Galactic Underworld on December 10
we
may expect to mean," Calleman writes, "a time of less conflict between East and West than
has been the case during the third day, which among other things saw the
Western war with Iraq and an intensification of the Israeli-Palestinian. This
does not mean that these conflicts will go away altogether in the time to
come, but that this will be a major opportunity for human beings to realize
and manifest the Oneness of all things. It is an opportunity to see the unity
of all humankind regardless of religion, race, nationality or gender.
The midpoint of this tun, 8 of June will thus see the Oneness
Celebration including the Oneness with God and all Cosmos. The worldwide
meditation at the occasion of the Venus Transit on June 8 will mean that the
final time is here for humanity to realize the Enlightenment that it is meant
to attain by the time of the next Venus Transit on June 6, 2012."
As we shall see at the
end of this piece, how one feels about all this
depends on how we feel about the Night itself, and
whether Night is only something we have to pass
through to get back to the Day, or -- if Night may
have its own secrets and advantages, best used in
a Night tun. For a moment, we shall look
at a few conventional Gregorian dates and the main
astral rhythm of the month, pulsing at intervals
of roughly a week:
Dec. 9: the Full
Moon is loaded with creative tension and juice,
as Moon in Gemini crosses opposite Sun and Pluto,
conjunct in Sagittarius, while Jupiter in Virgo
forms the middle leg of a T-square, and the
opposition of Saturn in Cancer to Venus and Chiron
in Capricorn is linked to the main Full Moon design
through sextile (60°) and trine (120°) angles
with the Sun-Moon dance. This Full Moon is an excellent
time for bringing important matters to judgment
and decision, with the understanding that when significant
amounts of purposefully-created anxiety and random
fear are at large on the property, acts of bringing
something to a radical change, even to an end, may
entail a treading on the tiger's tail. Soft shoes
slide best.
Dec. 10: The Third
Night, the new tun in the Galactic Creation Cycle,
begins.
Dec. 16: Mars
enters Aries, sign of his rulership, at a moment
of extraordinary planetary tension in which Pluto
in Sagittarius is square (90° from) Jupiter
in Virgo while Mercury slows to stasis (see next)
right on the position of Chiron
in Capricorn,
just as both planets oppose Saturn in Cancer. These
mid-month days of the third quarter moon are as
highly charged this month as the Full Moon of
Dec. 9 and the New Moon of Dec. 22 - 23. As always
is the prick when Jupiter and Pluto afflict -- and
frankly enjoy aggravating -- each other, the irresistible
urge to the truth and the fear-driven will to conceal
secrets push against each other with an intense
friction that can heat other things around it.
Dec. 17:
Mercury "goes retrograde", crossing back
into Sagittarius on Dec. 30, then "goes direct"
on Jan. 6 and lurches forward into Capricorn again
on Jan. 14. While this is bearable for
the first 13 days, as Mercury tends to enjoy his
tour through Saturn's library and museum in Capricorn,
Mercury
is said to be "in detriment" in Sagittarius,
ruled by Jupiter, where the messenger's skill with details
is little valued by those who
claim to see what they like to call a "big
picture" of strategic ideas. Mercury serves
a two week sentence (Dec. 30 - Jan. 14) in a place where his work is
ignored by bosses who have contempt for experts.
Confucius knew this situation well,
as did Hamlet, for whom the last of the seven good
motives for suicide is "the
spurns / That patient merit of the unworthy takes."
One high-tension metaphor: you are in the Mercury role as Donald Rumsfeld's unappreciated
secretary,
about to deliver news that is certain to make the
boss
squint and show teeth at the same time. The prescription?
From New Year's Eve to Epiphany (Dec. 31 - Jan.
6), let's be kind to each other, give
overworked data handlers a break, and ignore
an authority or two, in the interest of mellowing
and refreshing them.
Dec. 22 - 23:
New Moon conjunct Sun in Capricorn, a day after
Sun enters Capricorn at the Winter Solstice. This
New Moon is uneventful, though Uranus in late Aquarius
is sextile (60°) to Sun-Moon, both of which
square (90°) Mars in Aries. The likely bump
is that Christmas producers,
who have been working much too hard, even obsessing
on family fun at all costs for the holidays, will stress
out Dec. 18 - 23, chill out as the Big Day nears.
Dec. 29 - 30:
Uranus enters Pisces (until May, 2010) For the difference
between Uranus as dazzling fireworks, which feed on the air
of Aquarius, vs. Uranus as the mysterious lantern fish swimming
in the Piscean
water that douses fire -- see March
2003 Mythic Prelude.
By the end
of the year, Uranus the revolutionary, showman and
shock queen is submerged in Pisces, and we have
all entered the Third Night. It goes without saying
that fear pimps will poke our collective fear bladder
even more relentlessly than they've been doing for
decades now, and that before the end of the night
tun that has just begun, many who've been optimists
until now will resonate with Keats' line "I
have been half in love with easeful Death,"
and will listen intently for the nightingale in
the dark. We are now past the point of glib, clever
black and white choices about whether we play the
night scene as a storm from Wagner or a garden ruse
by Mozart. Much of what we do in the year to come
will be helping others -- and more to the point,
allowing others to help us -- first to get through
the Night, then tap its possibilities.
Here's one
way, a prayer that reflects all the hidden promise
of our moment, by Lanny and Mary Rose
Sinkin of the Light Worker Center, in Hilo, Hawa`i, light@ilhawaii.net:
|
May you awake renewed each day. |
|
May your
heart lift with the rising sun. |
|
May you walk on water. |
|
May you
talk to the clouds, the trees, the animals, the insects, the Cetaceans, and
all your relations. |
|
May you move through your day gently unraveling any
knots that appear and releasing any cords that tie you to your
past. |
|
May your presence inspire others. |
|
May you translocate to any
place on the planet or in the universe you wish to be.
|
|
May you be one
of those counted among the critical mass of conscious Humans needed to take
the next step. |
|
My you live to see the day when gradual evolution arrives
at graduation to a new level of Human expression. |
|
May your song bring
joy to all who hear it. |
Even those who are, in Robert
Frost's
phrase, very well "acquainted with
the night". Keep holding that Frequency.
